Market and Consumer Research Analysis Process Design: Developed a Market and Consumer Research Toolkit for a large company with multiple divisions, geographies and product
segmentations including non-residential. MSA segmented the research process into multiple
steps and identified key questions to be answered throughout the development cycle; identified
and profiled key research companies nationally; created Request for Proposal (“RFP”) Templates
for 12 types of research; and prepared a glossary of key research terms. The Toolkit is posted to
an intranet for global company use.
Company and Community Cornerstone Visioning Initiative: Acted as the Research Lead to
identify and define customer-focused cornerstones from which the company mission statement
and community development guidelines are to be created. Research includes reviewing
academic, industry-specific and non-industry periodicals for eight potential cornerstones. The
research also reviewed existing consumer trends and attitudes to ensure their relevance to the
company’s direction. The final deliverable was a briefing book and planning session with key
team members which further finalized a set of three defined company cornerstones with
applicable operational uses for the company and the development of their communities.
Competitive Builder Business Intelligence: Utilizing third party data and conducting primary
research of builders, identified geographic and product segmentation; organizational structure,
key business alliances, and overall business goals and objectives in the competitive environment.
Synthesized and translated the research into actionable items for the builder client.
Developer/Builder Interviews Regarding Community Foundation Start-Up: Identified companies
which have successfully formed community foundations and conducted interviews to identify best
practices and potential advisory resources. Research was conducted for a developer looking to
establish a core-giving program through a tax-exempt organization set-up by its local offices,
funded through builders and homeowners, and managed by local residents. The end result was
an executive summary answering several key questions, a profile of 30+ community foundations
and a listing of other resources.
Resource Research for Green Building Practices: Researched, organized and summarized articles
and periodicals on green building practices. The end result was a resource toolkit appropriate for
educating internal staff on green building practices. The toolkit provided resources for key
industry standards; subject matter experts, news and media; case studies; books and articles;
academic research; and conservation and funding groups.
Best Practice Research for Urban Mixed Use Development: Researched and identified award
winning urban mixed use developments throughout the United States. Conducted interviews with
key developers, builders and lenders in the urban mixed-use arena. The end result was a summary
of key conclusions from the interviews along with tables categorizing various mixed use
developments and lending resources.
Metro Core Analysis: Researched and identified existing or future employment cores and growth
corridors for strategic discussion of current land holdings and future acquisitions in 25 major
metropolitan statistical areas throughout the United States. Conducted interviews with key
governmental agencies and local real estate experts to identify growth opportunities. The end result
was GIS based maps with an overlay of critical information gathered.
